A eficácia de Concerta no tratamento do TDAH foi estabelecida em ensaios clínicos controlados de crianças e adolescentes com idade entre 6 e 17 anos e adultos com idade entre 18 e 65 anos que preenchiam os critérios do Manual de Diagnóstico e Estatística, 4ª edição (DSM-IV) para TDAH. Concerta é contraindicado: Em pacientes com ansiedade, tensão e agitação acentuadas, pois pode agravar estes sintomas; Em pacientes com hipersensibilidade conhecida ao metilfenidato ou a outros componentes da fórmula do produto; Em pacientes com glaucoma; Em pacientes com diagnóstico ou história familiar de Síndrome de Tourette; Durante tratamento com inibidores da monoaminoxidase (MAO) e, também, durante um período mínimo de 14 dias após a descontinuação do inibidor da MAO (pode ocorrer crise hipertensiva).<table style="margin-top: 20px;
